Abstract

Molecular clouds, the birthplaces of stars, are significantly influenced by magnetic fields that shape their structure and evolution. This review synthesizes current understanding of magnetic field geometries within molecular clouds, focusing on observational techniques, theoretical models, and their implications for star formation. We discuss polarimetric observations, Zeeman splitting, and computational simulations that reveal field morphologies, ranging from ordered to turbulent configurations. The interplay between magnetic fields, turbulence, and gravity is explored, highlighting their roles in cloud stability and collapse. Recent advancements and future observational prospects are also addressed.
