Generally, the yardstick to measure a student's performance is his academic achievement on the basis of which he is given a chance to enroll in a higher class. His educational achievement is the basis for appointment to various professional courses and jobs. The presented research studies the relationship between academic achievement and intelligence among secondary students of Madhepura district of Bihar. Intelligence is considered to be a person's ability to learn, ability to adjust, ability to think rationally and abstractly. Studies have found that intelligence plays an important role in the academic achievement of its children. Different levels of intelligence affect the academic achievement of students.

सामान्यतः किसी छात्र के प्रदर्शन को मापने का पैमाना उसकी शैक्षिक उपलब्धि होती है जिसके आधार पर उसे उच्च वर्ग में नामांकन का मौका दिया जाता है। विभिन्न व्यावसायिक पाठ्यक्रमों और नौकरियों में नियुक्ति का आधार उसकी शैक्षणिक उपलब्धि ही होती है। प्रस्तुत शोध बिहार के मधेपुरा जिला के माध्यमिक छात्रों में उसकी शैक्षणिक उपलब्धि और और उसकी बुद्धिमत्ता के बीच के संबधों का अध्ययन करता है। बुद्धिमत्ता किसी व्यक्ति की अधिगम की क्षमता, समायोजन की क्षमता, विवेकशील और अमूर्त चिंतन करने की क्षमता माना जाता है। अध्ययन में यह पाया गया है कि बुद्धिमत्ता उसके बच्चों की शैक्षणिक उपलब्धि पर महत्वपूर्ण भुमिका निभाती है। बुद्धि के विभन्न स्तर छात्रों की शैक्षणिक उपलब्धि को प्रभावित करता है।
